Principal's Message

Well… That Was a Week! 😅

If you were wondering what else this week could possibly throw our way, we certainly found out! We started with the internet going down, added some unexpectedly chilly weather and the promise of rain, and then topped it all off with an unexpected fire alarm yesterday.

Our staff and maintenance team quickly checked the building, and while we weren’t able to determine exactly what triggered the alarm, we confirmed that everyone was safe and the building was clear. And hey—there’s always a silver lining: our monthly fire drill is officially checked off the list! ✅🔥

But through it all, our Cougars kept learning, finding joy, and showing incredible resiliency. That’s what makes our OAK community so special. Even when things don’t go quite as planned, we keep going, we support one another, and we find ways to learn, grow, and spark joy along the way. 💙

Today, we also kicked off something very exciting with our 5th and 6th grade Cougar Leaders! Our student leadership team spent the day together at a leadership retreat, building community, thinking about leadership, and beginning to imagine what they want to bring to OAK this year. I’m already looking forward to seeing the vision they create and the ways they will make their mark on our school community.
You may have already spotted some of our Cougar Leaders helping out in the car line this week. When you see them, give them a wave, say hello, and thank them for helping our school get off to a great start! We are excited to watch these students grow as leaders and find new ways to serve and strengthen our OAK community. 🐾💙

After a week that kept us all on our toes, we are more than ready for a long weekend! We hope our OAK families enjoy a relaxing Labor Day weekend filled with rest, fun, and hopefully no alarms, outages, or surprise weather events! 😂

Monday is a school holiday, and we’ll see everyone back on campus Tuesday!

Have a wonderful long weekend, Cougars! 💙.
